IMPARTIALS & IMMORTALS is the name of the supernatural/romance series I began writing in 2009, coinciding with my first attempt at NaNoWriMo. It revolves around a group of humans and a group of immortals. The humans, a special breed known as Impartials, are descended from people who were gifted by the Seelie Fae generations ago with extra abilities that they’re meant to use in order to bind a Tithe with the Unseelie Fae that will ensure the safety of humans.
The Tithe is bound every seven years and seems, on the surface, to be a simple concept: the Impartial finds the Court of the Unseelie Fae, those most known for harming humans, and offers a sacrifice in return for the safety of humans everywhere. The tricky part is that the Tithe must be bound by Samhain, October 31. And the Fae have had millennia to practice their games.
That’s where the immortals come in. A band of immortals who have never quite fit in with their own kind nor managed to hide completely among the humans ally themselves with the Impartials, turning on their own kind to ensure the safety of the world they’ve embraced as their own… even if it means war.
This series has very much been my biggest writing project–in hindsight, choosing it as my first project may have been a tad overambitious. But one day, it’ll get out there. One fine day. The current plan is for a seven-book series; four of those are in some state of draft-ness, and the other three have working titles and a semblance of a plot. Stay tuned, kids, it’s gonna be a wild ride!
